Title:This study showed that nitrate, readily available in most wastewater treatment plants, could be used to oxidize sulfide. Removal efficiencies of sulfide were observed more than 90% when the sulfide loading rates increased from 0.055 to 2.004 kg/m3 d. The advantage is that by combining coupling sulfide removal with nitrate allows not only the control of sulfide but also improves nitrogen removal via lithotrophic denitrification without requirement of a carbon source.
