The taxonomic composition of denitrifying strains entries collected from scientific literature based either on metabolic function or 16S rRNA studies, revealed that they belonged to six phyla, ten classes, 71 families, and 126 genera.

Currently the taxonomic composition of anammox bacteria entries in BNRdb revealed that they belong to 1 phylum, 2 classes, 2 orders, 1 family and 6 genera.
